All-on-4™ Implant Dentures in Scottsdale, AZ
In many cases, patients who have experienced bone loss will need to undergo a bone graft before receiving dental implants in Scottsdale, AZ. However, the innovative All-on-4™ technique provides an alternative solution. By using four dental implants placed in strategic locations, Dr. Alison P. Schwartz can place a set of implant dentures without performing a bone graft first.
What are implant dentures?
Implant dentures are a hybrid technology that combines the benefits of both dental implants and removable dentures. Essentially, this involves using as little as three dental implants to support a set of removable dentures and replace an entire arch of missing teeth. This is different from traditional dentures because it eliminates problems such as slippage while stimulating bone and tissue mass to prevent deterioration.
Hoes does the All-on-4™ technique work?
The All-on-4™ technique uses a very specific placement to maximize the use of available bone mass. First, Dr. Schwartz will carefully examine your jaw to determine which areas have the highest bone density. Then, according to those results, two implants will be placed in the front of the mouth at 90 degree angles. Two more implants will be placed in the back of the mouth at 45 degree angles. In this way, bone to implant contact will be maximized, allowing the implants to withstand normal biting and chewing forces without coming loose.
Once the implants are in place, a temporary denture will be attached that same day for immediate use. After the implants have fully integrated with the jaw bone, a custom made denture will be attached and anchored in place, giving you a new permanent set of implant dentures.
Is it safe?
All-on-4™ implant dentures are a great solution for patients with a limited amount of bone mass. This technique has been in use for over a decade with a 98.5 percent success after four years.
